Ryzom: fantasy rpg and crafting

Explore Atys, gather materials and develop crafting and combat skills in a persistent fantasy MMORPG. An RPG-first option with a clearly documented free tier.

Know before you play

Free accounts stop at character level 125 and equipment quality 150. Premium raises limits and adds benefits; this is not a freeform base-building replacement.

Choose the RPG side of the comparison

Ryzom’s official overview describes classless character development, harvesting materials and crafting equipment in a shared science-fantasy world. Those are worthwhile overlaps for a player who enjoyed exploring and preparing equipment. They do not establish the presence of Valheim-style structural building. Keep that distinction at the centre of the choice: this entry answers the RPG and crafting part of the search.

The free-account ceiling is part of the recommendation

The official account comparison caps free characters at level 125 and equipment quality 150. Premium raises the maximum character level to 250 and offers other benefits. A player can therefore investigate the world without an initial subscription while still facing meaningful free-tier boundaries. Read the current comparison before planning a long progression project. Open-source code does not imply that the official online service has no paid tier.

A persistent world changes the group arrangement

Ryzom is an online MMORPG rather than a private survival save. Our practical advice is to agree on the activities the group wants to share: exploration, gathering, crafting or combat. Do not choose it solely because both games feature a wilderness. If constructing and defending your own building is essential, compare the settlement-focused entries first.

An older game still deserves a compatibility check

The official download page publishes minimum hardware guidance, including 2 GB RAM and 10 GB storage. Some operating-system labels on that page are old, so verify the current client and your platform before installing. These figures are attributed requirements, not our performance results. Try Ryzom for its world and skills; compare Veloren when a more direct action-RPG exploration focus is the reason for searching.
